Italia Cinema, the national body for promoting local pics, has named lawyer Giovanni Galoppi as prexy.
Galoppi is a member of Credito Cinematografico, the government commission that provides loans to filmmakers, and sits on the board of directors at Cinecitta, which controls 85% of Italia Cinema.
The new president was nominated by Italia Cinema’s board of directors, which is comprised of reps from Cinecitta; pubcaster RAI; the national entertainment organization Agis; exhibitors body Anec and the Assn. of Independent Producers (Api) as well as by the state cultural and foreign ministries who promote Italian culture and films abroad.
Galoppi replaces Marina Cicogna, who will remain in charge of artistic and promotional activities.
