First Run picks ‘Embalmer’

Pic is a love triangle involving a taxidermist-dwarf

First Run Features has picked up domestic rights for Italian pic “The Embalmer.”

Dark drama is the story of a taxidermist-dwarf, his protege and protege’s girlfriend. Love triangle is based on a true story that made tabloid headlines.

Pic screened this year at Cannes as part of the Directors Fortnight series and at the Chicago Film Festival.

First Run will release “The Embalmer” this spring.

Andrew Herwitz of the Film Sales Company made the deal for Jef Nuyts of Intra Movies and Seymour Wishman of First Run.

First Run’s current titles include “The Trials of Henry Kissinger” and Claude Chabrol’s “Merci pour le chocolat,” distribbed with Empire Releasing.
