Arclight deal spotlights ‘Duo’

Cop, hypnotherapist team up for heist pic

SYDNEY — Arclight Films has nabbed worldwide sales rights excluding Asia to Hong Kong actioner “Heroic Duo” from helmer Benny Chan, who directed the Jackie Chan starrer “Who Am I?” as well as “Gen X Cops” and its sequel “Gen Y Cops.”

Pic will be released July 31 in Hong Kong by Universe Film Distribution, which is handling the film in Asia.

Featuring Leon Lai (“Three”) and Ekin Cheng (“The Twins Effect”), it’s the saga of a cop who teams up with a former police hypnotherapist after a heist at the Intl. Diamond Expo.

Action choreographer is Stephen Tung Wai, whose credits include “Scooby-Doo” and “Bulletproof Monk.”

Arclight will introduce the pic to buyers at the fall markets under its new genre label Darclight Films.
