MADRID — French sales company Wild Bunch has acquired worldwide rights outside Spain and Argentina to Cannes Fest Un Certain Regard player, “Hoy y manana” (Today and Tomorrow), the feature film deb of Argentina’s Alejandro Chomski.
A meller focusing on a girl’s plunge into prostitution, “Today” is co-produced by Argentina’s Cinema Digital, Madrid-based sales house Bulbeck & Mas, and Altair Cinema, a joint venture between Spanish-Argentine distribution and sales house Aldebaran Film & Arts and Argentinian producer Fernando Sokolowicz.
The pickup continues Wild Bunch’s involvement in Latin American filmmaking.
It scored heavily at last year’s Cannes Festival repping Brazilian Fernando Meirelles’ “Cidade de Deus” (City of God) and Argentine Pablo Trapero’s “El Bonaerense.”
Chomski worked as an assistant director to Luis Puenzo, Emir Kustirica and Jim Jarmusch. He gained a certain notoriety by co-directing a mockumentary “Quien es Alejandro Chomski?” (Who is Alejandro Chomski?) about himself.
