Emma Watts has been promoted to senior VP of production at 20th Century Fox.
Watts is overseeing the sci-fi thriller “I, Robot,” directed by Alex Proyas and starring Will Smith and Bridget Moynahan. Other upcoming projects include “Taxi,” to star Queen Latifah, and “Flight of the Phoenix,” to be directed by John Moore.
Previously, Watts supervised “Just Married,” “Solaris,” “Behind Enemy Lines” and “Shallow Hal.”
“Fox has greatly expanded the number and scale of pictures on our slate,” explained Hutch Parker, president of 20th Century Fox, who praised Watt for having “risen to that challenge like a champion, skillfully driving her projects into production, and distinguishing herself as one of the industry’s best film executives.”
Watts joined Fox five years ago as a creative exec, later earning her VP stripes. She began her career as a creative exec at Def Pictures before joining Oliver Stone’s Illusion Entertainment, where she worked as director of development on the projects “Any Given Sunday” and “U-Turn.”
