Warner Bros. Pictures has picked up Ebbe Roe Smith’s pitch “Self Made.”
Described as “Big” meets “Being There,” the comedy, to be produced by Jon Klane, concerns a loser who loses his memory and, after regaining it, decides to reinvent himself and becomes a winner.
Smith and Klane are penning the script, loosely based on Marcus Gautesen’s screenplay “Dumbfounded,” which was also optioned as part of the rights package.
“It explores the idea that you can jettison the garbage and start your life over, that you can build a better version of yourself by simply changing your outlook,” said Klane, who also reps Smith.
Pic is being overseen at the studio by Warner Bros. VP of production Aditya Sood.
Klane is also producing the Warner Bros. romantic caper comedy “Fool’s Gold,” written by John Claflin and Dan Zelman.
