Musicvideo and commercials helmer Marcos Siega has come aboard to helm the Miramax Films thriller “Underclassman” with thesp Nick Cannon (“Drumline”) toplining.
Siega, repped by Endeavor, has directed musicvideos for bands including Blink 182 and Weezer and helmed episodes of Fox skeins “Fastlane” and “Oliver Beene.”
“Underclassman” is penned by David Wagner and Brent Goldberg –the writing team behind “National Lampoon’s Van Wilder” — and follows an undercover cop (Cannon) into a private prep school to solve the murder of a reporter on the school paper.
Scribe duo also have “My Baby’s Mama” set up at Miramax Films with Eddie Griffin starring, and the BWCS-repped scribes are also scripting porn-star comedy “The Girl Next Door” at Fox-based New Regency.
Tapestry Films partners Andrew Panay, Peter Abrams and Robert Levy are producing “Underclassman,” with Michael Goldman from Tollin Robbins exec producing. Tapestry also is producing gridiron drama “Overtime,” with Ashton Kutcher starring and “Big Fat Liar” director Shawn Levy at the helm for Warner Bros. Pictures.
Miramax co-prexy Bob Osher is overseeing development and production of “Underclassman” with senior VP Christian McLaughlin and production exec Laura Rister.
