PARIS — Gallic pic promotion outfit Unifrance has elected producer Maragret Menegoz as prexy.
She replaces former topper Daniel Toscan du Plantier, who died of a heart attack at the Berlin Film Festival in February.
Menegoz has produced over three dozen films, including “Our Lady of the Assassins” and “An Autumn Tale.” She has also headed Les Films du Losange, the production and distribution house founded by helmers Eric Rohmer and Barbet Schroeder, since 1975.
Les Films du Losange is distributing Lars von Trier’s “Dogville” in France.
Unifrance said Menegoz “would remain faithful to the vision of Daniel Toscan du Plantier,” whose 15-year tenure transformed the post into what it represents today. The org said that Menegoz “has called for new reflection on what role French cinema should play in the international market.”
Unifrance organizes the Yokohama French Film Festival, the European Meeting of French Cinema in Paris, and the New York Rendez-Vous.
