Spyglass in holiday spirit

Allen, Wilson sold scripts 'Manchild,' 'Gringo'

In a preemptive buy Tuesday morning, Spyglass Entertainment purchased holiday comedy spec “Four Christmases” for $650,000 against $1 million.

Written by Matt Allen and Caleb Wilson, it’s the story of a young couple, each of whose parents divorced and then married other people. This leaves the newlyweds with four parental households to visit over the course of Christmas Day.

Spyglass principals Roger Birnbaum and Gary Barber will produce the pic with production president Jonathan Glickman. Senior VP production Derek Evans, who brought the project into the company, will co-produce.

Wilson and Allen previously sold “Manchild” to New Line Cinema and “Gringo” to Universal.
