Guy East and Nigel Sinclair’s Spitfire Pictures has teamed with Mark Johnson’s Grand Via on “Stranger on the Shore,” a spec script by Scott Johnson. They’ve set up the project at Intermedia through Spitfire’s non-exclusive deal.
Project is described as a dark thriller in which a judge travels to his hometown to confront the ghosts of his past and revisits a murder committed there 25 years ago.
Johnson most recently scripted “Book of Kings” for Davis Entertainment.
“Stranger on the Shore” is the first collaboration between East, Sinclair and Johnson, but they’re hardly strangers. While Sinclair and East ran Intermedia with Moritz Borman, they brought Johnson in to a producing deal there before leaving to form their own company. East and Sinclair just launched their first pic, “Masked and Anonymous,” and are producing with BBC and Bob Dylan a definitive documentary of Dylan’s early career that is being directed by Martin Scorsese.
Johnson recently completed the John Lee Hancock-directed “The Alamo” and the Nick Cassavetes-directed “The Notebook” and is prepping a remake of “Sleepwalker” with Richard Gere.
