After teaming up with Miramax Films on “Gangs of New York” and “The Aviator,” Graham King’s Initial Entertainment Group has come on board to co-finance “An Unfinished Life” for helmer Lasse Hallstrom. Pic stars Robert Redford, Jennifer Lopez, Morgan Freeman and Josh Lucas.
IEG will handle international distribution rights on pic, with Miramax holding North American theatrical rights and Revolution controlling UK rights.
Pic, which is IEG’s first collaboration with Revolution Studios, is exec produced by Joe Roth, Harvey Weinstein, King, Matthew Rhodes of Persistent Entertainment, Mark Rydell and Su Armstrong.
“Life” revolves around a young widow (Lopez), down on her luck and desperate to care for her daughter, who’s forced to move in with her estranged father-in-law (Redford).
“At IEG we are always in search of strong projects such as this one,” King said. “All the elements are here in force: a stellar cast, an outstanding director, a great script and seasoned producers.”
Added Rick Sands, Miramax’s chief operating officer: “IEG has a keen eye for quality projects, and having them as partners with Revolution and Miramax on this wonderful film is quite satisfying.”
Alan Ladd Jr., Kellianne Ladd and Leslie Holleran produce pic from Mark and Virginia Spragg’s screenplay.
Cast is rounded out by Camryn Manheim, Damian Lewis and newcomer Becca Gardner. Pic is shooting in Kamloops, British Columbia.
