Potente has beat on Rofe’s ‘Street’

'Lola' thesp will play hooker for 20-yr-old helmer

Franka Potente, who starred opposite Matt Damon in “The Bourne Identity,” will star in “Eyes of the Street” for director Josh Rofe.

“Eyes” concerns a teenager who accidentally kills a fellow student in a brawl and finds himself ostracized after spending three years in juvenile detention. He leaves home to share an apartment with a prostitute (Potente) and a transsexual; all three are trying to find their way in the world.

Produced by Barry Katz and Brian Volk-Weiss, pic is slated to begin filming in New York this summer.

“Eyes of the Street” marks the second feature for the 20-year-old Rofe. He recently completed production on drama “The Gray in Between” with Anne Archer, Natasha Gregson Wagner and Amanda Plummer.

Rofe also wrote and co-stars in both films.

Potente first gained Stateside attention in Tom Tykwer’s “Run Lola Run.”
