HOLLYWOOD — Newmark Entertainment has pacted with indie production and acquisitions company Echelon Entertainment to provide the rent-a-system distributor with product.
First pic in the slate will be the offbeat comedy “Nobody Knows Anything,” starring Mike Myers, Kristin Johnston, Janeane Garofalo, Wayne Rogers, Virginia Madsen, Tim Meadows, Michael Lerner and Margaret Cho. Pic will be released this fall.
Newmark recently worked with Artisan Entertainment on the marketing campaign for the docu “Standing in the Shadows of Motown.”
Company hired veteran film distrib execs Lewis O’Neil and Stephen Rockabrand as exec consultants in February this year (Daily Variety, Feb. 5).
Company offers media planning, research and placement as well as theatrical distribution, marketing, release strategy planning and rights negotiations.
In addition to sealing a deal with Echelon, Newmark has formed a strategic alliance with Profile Entertainment, founded by Dale Poniewaz to help raise financing for marketing and theatrical distribution services for the upcoming releases.
Though no other pics were identified under the Echelon/Newmark deal, Echelon execs indicate they hope to release as many as 15 per year.
