Myriad has finalized a co-production deal with Canadian company imX Communications to board the epic romance “Partition” set in India.
Myriad is handling international sales in all territories excluding North America and South Africa.
Jimi Mistry (“East Is East”) is set to play the lead with other casting under way. Pic is being directed by Kashmiri-born Canadian Vic Sarin who penned the script with Patricia Finn. ImX’s Chris Zimmer brought pic to Myriad prexy Kirk D’Amico who will produce alongside Steve Clark-Hall from Skyline Films in London and Tina Pehme with Sepia Fils out of Vancouver and LA. Shooting is skeded to start late this year on location in India, London and South Africa. Discussions are under way to secure a South African co-producer.
“When Chris initially brought us this project, we were immediately struck by the powerful script,” D’Amico says.
Pic is romantic tale of two people caught in the events that divided India and Pakistan in 1949 after a man resigns from the British Indian Army to live in a quiet Sikh village in Northern India suddenly finds his life turned upside down when he becomes responsible for the life of a 17-year-old girl who is traumatized by the events that separted her from her Muslim family.
