Imax adds 3 India venues

Bollywood pics may play on large format

TORONTO — Bigscreen theater company Imax has scored its largest international deal in three years, inking for three Imax theaters in India.

“We look forward to exhibiting re-purposed Hollywood and potentially Bollywood films, as well as traditional Imax films,” said Rajesh Gupta, vice chairman of Aerens Developers & Engineers, with which Imax will be working.

Locations of the theaters have yet to be finalized, but they are skedded to open in 2006. There are Imax theaters in Mumbai and Ahmedabad, with a third to open in Hyderabad in May.
