Hickenlooper’s ‘Handy’

Story concerns repairman who fixes clients' life issues

George Hickenlooper will rewrite and direct romantic drama “The Handyman” for Warner Bros. Pictures and producer Andrew Lazar.

Originally adapted by Harold Gould from the novel by Carolyn See, “Handyman” is the story of a Hollywood repairman who proves to be a dreadful jack-of-all-trades but is brilliant when it comes to helping his clients resolve the larger issues troubling their personal lives.

Hickenlooper most recently directed the Rodney Bingenheimer documentary “Mayor of the Sunset Strip,” which will premiere June 17 as a centerpiece premiere at the ninth annual IFP Los Angeles Film Festival.

Feature credits include “Man From Elysian Fields,” starring Andy Garcia, and “The Big Brass Ring,” starring William Hurt.
