Gordon takes a ‘Minute’ for Olsens

Pic, written by Emily Fox, is an action-adventure comedy

Helmer Dennie Gordon has signed on to direct the Olsen Twins pic “New York Minute” for Warner Bros Pictures.

Pic reunites Gordon with the studio where she directed “What a Girl Wants,” starring Amanda Bynes, Colin Firth and Kelly Preston.

The twins’ first feature film release was 1995’s “It Takes Two,” for Warner Bros in partnership with Rysher Entertainment.

“Minute” is being produced by Denise Di Novi, Robert Thorne, the duo’s former agent and manager and now production partner, and Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen through their production company Dualstar Prods.

Dualstar set up the pic at WB, where it teamed with DiNovi. Exec producing is Alison Greenspan with Jill Zimmerman. Chris Sacani is co-producing.

Pic, written by Emily Fox, is an action-adventure comedy set in New York that takes place over a 24-hour time period. Pic is expected to start shooting in July in Toronto and New York. It is being overseen at the studio by VP of production Jessica Goodman.

Fraternal twins Mary-Kate and Ashley shot to fame in the hit TV series “Full House” in 1987. Their success has also spawned books, dolls and other merchandise.

They have also released the album “Brother for Sale” and another 10 children’s albums and produced and starred in about 12 straight-to-video movies and about 25 straight-to-video shortform shows and five TV movies.

The twins also operate the leading girls retail franchise in the U.S. under the Mary-Kate and Ashley brand, which in 2002 grossed just shy of $1 billion.
