Fox Searchlight has hit the road with helmer Elizabeth Allen, picking up “Driving While Infatuated,” a project she co-wrote with scribe Kyle Long.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“Driving” concerns the adventures of two teenage girls, a mad crush and the car neither of them has permission to drive.
Searchlight senior VP Julia Dray will oversee its development with director of production Lawrence Gray and creative exec Jeff Arkuss.
Allen, repped by Endeavor and Bondesen-Graup, most recently sold an original teen musical to Disney. She is attached as a producer to that tuner along with business partner Kelly Macmanus through their company Generator.
Immortal Entertainment, with whom Allen has a first-look production deal, will produce that pic; Amy Veltman penned the script.
Allen graduated from the USC film school graduate production program in 2000, winning the Jack Nicholson Directing Fellowship Award. Her film “Eyeball Eddie” premiered at the 2000 Slamdance Film Festival and has won numerous awards at fests worldwide.
She is also currently developing “Stargirl” at Paramount Pictures’ Nickelodeon Films; Allen co-wrote the project with Nick Pustay based on the novel by Newberry Award-winning novelist Jerry Spinelli.
Long, repped by Gersh and Energy Entertainment, sold the spec “Million Dollar Fan” to David Friendly’s Deep River Prods. in 2001.
