FIFF gives award money to distribs

World Brief

Ghent’s Flanders Intl. Film Festival (FIFF) hopes to boost arthouse film by handing over its awards money to distribs who will release the films in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg, rather than splitting it with the director, composer or scriptwriter.

Pix in competition at the October 7-18 fest showcase the impact of music on film.

Prize money on offer at this year’s fest will be just over €81,000 ($94,830), 10% up on last year.
