'Monster,' 'Cooler,' 'Freddy vs. Jason' also to unveil

COLOGNE — Greg Marcks’ thriller “11:14,” featuring Hilary Swank, will have its world premiere at the Aug. 20 closing night of Germany’s Fantasy Filmfest tour. Event kicks off in Munich on July 23 with James Mangold’s “Identity.”

The fest tour has added Nuremberg to its circuit, which also includes Berlin, Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Cologne and Hamburg. Playing one week in each city, the fest also expanded its program to 73 features plus short pics.

A world premiere slot has also been reserved for “Monster Man” by Michael Davis. Other films unspooling at the fest include Wayne Kramer’s “The Cooler,” Robert Parigi’s “Love Object,” Ronny Yu’s “Freddy vs. Jason” and “King of the Ants” by Stuart Gordon. Besides the U.S., Japan is the country best represented at the fest. The Focus: Asia section this year features Shimizu Takashi’s “Ju-On: The Grudge,” Hideo Nakata’s “Dark Water” and Takashi Miike’s “Gozu.”

Organizers said that the number of entries from European countries has diminished.
