The Walt Disney Co. has made a preemptive bid to pay mid-six figures to acquire pitch “The Offer” by Peter Dowling.
Pic will be produced by Arnold and Anne Kopelson with producer Robert DiNozzi, who brought pic to Sherryl Clark, Kopelson Entertainment’s exec VP of production.
Pitch, said to be a taut Hitchcockian thriller, marks first project DiNozzi has set up with Kopelson Entertainment under his new first-look producing deal.
DiNozzi and Dowling previously teamed on the high-concept thriller “Flight Plan,” for Disney and Imagine Entertainment. Dowling also wrote “The Thirty-Fourth Floor” for Kopelson, with DiNozzi serving as a co-producer.
At the studio, “Offer” will be overseen by Buena Vista Motion Pictures Group VP Brigham Taylor.
The Kopelsons are currently finishing production on “Blackout,” starring Ashley Judd, Sam Jackson and Andy Garcia.
Dowling is repped by Genesis and Eric Feig.
