Fox World, the international format arm of Fox Studios, has inked a deal with producer-exec Tim Crescenti to expand the division’s activities into new markets.
He will take up his new role in mid-July in Los Angeles and report to Daniela Welteke, head of Fox World, a unit of L.A.-based Fox Television Studios.
Crescenti, an experienced international production exec who most recently served as VP of international formats for Sony Pictures TV Intl., will work closely with Welteke and Fox World VP Hayley Babcock to roll out the company’s expanding roster of international formats worldwide.
Crescenti will focus on widening Fox’s footprint beyond the major European territories to growing markets in Eastern Europe, Latin America and Asia.
In this capacity, he will collaborate closely with the local offices of Twentieth Century Fox Intl. Television Distribution, which are overseeing format sales in these markets, as well as Fortune Star, Fox World’s joint venture partner in Asia.
“As we expand the global reach of our formats, we will count on Tim’s proven ability to tackle new challenges, no matter how unorthodox, to help satisfy local market needs and keep Fox World on the cutting edge of the business,” Welteke said.
Crescenti was based in London the past two years, overseeing Sony’s growing international format sales operations, while establishing 28 light entertainment productions globally.
