CineVegas skeds ‘Octane,’ ‘Shade’

Fest will screen 85 films from eight countries

See lineupThe fifth annual CineVegas Intl. Film Festival in Las Vegas will open June 13 with First Look Pictures’ “Octane,” starring Madeleine Stowe, and close June 21 with the crime drama “Shade” and documentary “Breakfast With Hunter.”

“Shade,” which will be a Blockbuster Video premiere, stars Sylvester Stallone and Melanie Griffith; it’s set in L.A.’s underground poker games and martini bars.

“Breakfast With Hunter” chronicles the twisted careers of journalist Dr. Hunter S. Thompson. Preem is expected to mark Thompson’s first return to Vegas since he wrote “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas” in the early 1970s.

Overseen by director of programming Trevor Groth, CineVegas will screen 85 films from eight countries.

Among the categories are Jackpot World Premieres, which include titles without U.S. distribution; Sure Bets, which offers screenings of high-profile narratives and docs with U.S. distribution; and Diamond Discoveries, which highlights previously debuted titles seeking U.S. distribution.
