Cinemark Intl., the division of Cinemark USA focused on Latin American exhibition, will be honored as international exhibitor of the year at ShowEast 2003.
Cinemark Intl. prexy Tim Warner will accept the award at a ceremony set for Sept. 29, the opening day of the confab. ShowEast runs through Oct. 2 at the Marriott Orlando World Center in Orlando, Fla.
“The management and the employees of Cinemark Intl. have earned this recognition with their aggressive business strategy and their excellent customer service,” said Mitch Neuhauser, co-managing director of ShowEast.
“A lot of hard work forged our success throughout our decade of strategic growth and crossing cultural barriers,” Warner said.
Cinemark operates 836 screens in 94 theaters in Mexico and 11 other Latin American countries. The Dallas-based company, which also has operations in the U.K. and Taiwan, plans to add another 36 screens by year’s end.
On Wednesday, organizers announced the confab will spotlight 20th Century Fox’s “Runaway Jury.”
Based on the John Grisham novel and starring Gene Hackman, Dustin Hoffman and John Cusack, “Jury” unspools nationwide Oct. 17. Courtroom drama will be screened for ShowEast attendees Sept. 30 at an AMC multiplex in Orlando.
Other ShowEast screening announcements are expected in upcoming weeks.
