WNBC-TV New York, the official broadcast sponsor of the Tribeca Film Festival, has scheduled “The Making of a Festival,” a one-hour special, for Saturday at 7 p.m.
The special, hosted by one of WNBC’s lead anchors, Sue Simmons, features interviews with the festival’s three founders — Robert De Niro, Martin Scorsese and Jane Rosenthal — as well as with Helen Hunt, Kyra Sedgwick, Dylan Kidd (the writer-director of “Rodger Dodger”) and Julian Schnabel, the filmmaker/artist.
WNBC’s movie and theater critic Jeffrey Lyons will appear on the show to discuss moviemaking in New York City over the years.
A red-faced WNBC had to retract the original press release it e-mailed to the press because the station spelled the word “Tribecca” in the headline and throughout the mailer. WNBC blamed a mischievous computer spell-check for the error.
