MusicMatch cues quartet of exex

Internet plans expansion with Leigh, Matey, Rabbani, Pai

MusicMatch has hired four new executives to round out its team as it expands operations in the burgeoning online music market.

Netco tapped Doug Leigh as senior VP and general counsel, overseeing the expansion of licenses with the major record labels as well as overhauling the company’s contracts and distribution agreements. Exec was most recently exec VP-general counsel at GameSpy Industries.

Mike Matey was named veep of consumer marketing. In addition to marketing duties, Matey will handle branding, promotions and e-commerce for MusicMatch. Exec has held high-level posts at Vivendi Universal Net, Microsoft and Chiat/Day.

Hyder Rabbani was hired as VP of sales and business development, building and managing MusicMatch’s strategic partnerships and distribution channels. For more than a decade, Rabbani handled sales in several regions worldwide for Intel.

Company also named Nishad Pai director of business development, dealing with distribution partnerships and partner marketing as well as corporate strategic alliances. Pai most recently held a similar post at file-swapping pioneer Napster.
