Warner Music cues e-commerce veep

Mirabella will oversee digital, new-media relationships

NEW YORK — Warner Music Group’s U.S. sales and retail music marketing arm WEA has named Adam Mirabella a veepee and head of a newly formed e-commerce department. Company said unit is being created in response to the evolving recorded music market and the growing importance of digital distribution.

Gotham-based Mirabella will oversee all of WEA’s digital, new-media and wireless commercial relationships, reporting to unit prexy John Esposito.

“As more major retailers and other companies launch online music stores, providing consumers with a broad array of options for purchasing our music, we felt the importance of creating a department focused solely on e-commerce at the distribution company level,” Esposito said.

The e-commerce department will work on behalf of all WMG labels, including Atlantic Group, Elektra Entertainment Group and Rhino Entertainment, in developing alliances with online retailers and other outlets.

Mirabella most recently was national account manager for Apple, working with the company’s iTunes Music Store.
