Digital media software company RealNetworks has scored a victory in its ongoing battle with Microsoft’s Windows Media as it was selected by Vodafone to provide streaming audio and video technology for the “Vodafone live” digital media service.
Vodafone outright owns or has stakes or partnerships with wireless network provides in 36 countries. As of April, 1 million customers have signed up for the Vodafone live service. The company does not plan to make it available in the U.S., however.
Vodafone will use multiple products from Real, including servers and software for download, asset management and playback.
