Blizzard snows in 2.5 mil requests for ‘Frozen’

Original title sold more than 3 mil copies

Vivendi Universal Games division Blizzard Entertainment has said it already has 2.5 million orders for “The Frozen Throne,” its expansion set to “Warcraft III.” Work on the expansion has just been completed, and the title will debut July 1, a year after the original hit store shelves and sold more than 3 million copies, a huge number in the computer-game business.

If all the orders for the expansion sell through, that would rep a retail “box office” of roughly $125 million. The “Warcraft” franchise has sold more than 8 million units since the original debuted in 1994. Blizzard is also working on a massively multiplayer online title, “Worlds of Warcraft.”
