Disney toons up DVD unit

Division moves to feature animation

The group that has been responsible for $2.8 billion in revenue from DVD-premiere movies such as “The Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride” now will be called DisneyToon Studios.

After being a part of Walt Disney TV Animation since it began nearly 10 years ago, the unit recently moved over to feature animation, under former WDTV animation president David Stainton.

The unit remains headed by executive VP Sharon Morrill who reports to Stainton. Morrill is responsible for profitable theatrical releases such as “Piglet’s Big Movie” and “The Jungle Book 2.”
