Google News now comes to you.
Google has created a beta product called Google News Alerts. It’s simple to use: Do a search on Google News for a topic that interests you. Take that search and go to the News Alerts page. Enter it in the form, along with your email address, and submit.
There’s almost no interface here: no way to see what searches you have, no way to edit a search, no way to set the delivery time. There’s also no registration hassle, no password, no demographic information requested.
The email layout itself is a little confusing, and the first one you receive might be heavy with old news, but after that, you’ll get just the latest news matching your search.
It will be interesting to see if this alert feature spreads beyond news to encompass other Google tools, like blogs, newsgroups and Web searches in general.
