TV2/Danmark posts profit

Danish pubcaster TV2/Danmark, which is partly financed by commercials, posted a $5.4 million profit after tax in 2002, down from $9.7 million in 2001.

The score sheet published Thursday for the channel and subsidiary, TV2 Zulu, shows that in an advertising market which has generally dropped by 9.6%, TV2/Danmark has added 2.1% to its sales revenue, totalling $159 million.

“Considering the current situation the result is satisfactory,” said the station’s managing director Peter Parbo. For the third consecutive year, TV2/Danmark added to audience share, now controlling 38% of the market – the highest since 1997.
