BERLIN — German kidvidder RTV has posted a e1.2 million ($1.36 million) half-year loss, well down from the $117 million loss the company suffered in the same period last year.
RTV attributed the improvement to restructuring but said further writedowns kept the company in the red. The unstable market as well as a cancelled output deal with Canada’s Nelvana resulted in 76% drop in revenues to $4.56 million, according to RTV execs.
Nevertheless, RTV has closed a number of deals this year. France 5 picked up company’s toon series “Wilf, the Witch’s Dog,” “Mysterious Cities of Gold” and “Turtle Island.”
RTV also sold a programming package to Gallic web TPS Jeunesse that includes French-language European rights to “Adventures of Swiss Family Robinson,” “Enid Blyton Secret Series” and “A Twist in the Tale.”
In Germany, Super RTL picked up a second season of RTV’s elf toon “Wenn Elfen helfen” while pubcaster ZDF renewed “Country Mouse, City Mouse.”
