India looks to U.K. to stem piracy

World Brief

India is asking for Blighty’s co-operation in the battle against film piracy, accusing London of being the center of the illegal trade in Bollywood films.

“London is the place where the largest number of Indian films are pirated by cartels and in order to break their stranglehold we need to work together,” said Information and Broadcasting Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad.

Bollywood lost over $400 million to piracy last year while the music industry incurred losses over $140 million apart from the loss to the government in taxes.
