Convicted TV chief runs from the law

World Brief

BUDAPEST — A court has issued an arrest warrant for former Radio-Television Serbia (RTS) chief exec Dragoljub Milanovic, who has gone into hiding after losing an appeal to overturn a 10-year sentence for his culpability in the deaths of 16 RTS staff.

Milanovic is guilty of ordering 16 RTS employees to remain at work in the studio on April 23, 1999, even though he had advanced warning that NATO fighters would attack the facilities. Milanovic was officially declared a fugitive Feb. 14 after failing to appear at Zabela prison in Pozarevac where he was to serve his sentence.
