WASHINGTON — The Motion Picture Assn. of America has tapped David Green as its vice president and counsel specializing in technology and new media.
Green spent 16 years at the Dept. of Justice, most recently as a deputy chief of the computer crime and intellectual property section in the Criminal division.
Green’s background will no doubt come in handy as the org begins to fight a recent California court decision that found Internet file-swapping companies Morpheus and Grokster not liable for the pirating of copyrighted songs and CDs.
“I am extremely pleased that David Green has joined the MPAA,” said MPA prexy Jack Valenti. “His strong intellectual property background, legal expertise, and knowledge of high-tech issues will be a great asset to the MPAA and to our member companies.”
