To the Editor:
Michael Fleming’s article in Inside Moves regarding “Fun With Dick And Jane” (Daily Variety, June 11) does not mention that the original film was written by Louis Garfinkle. It was re-written by Jerry Belson, starred George Segal and Jane Fonda, and was produced by a fellow named Peter Bart.
The fact that it is being remade as a vehicle for Jim Carrey only proves that creativity in the film business is dead, and only remakes, sequels and computer generated action blockbusters originated in another medium have a chance of being given the go-ahead by our creative geniuses running the major studios. So sad!
