Letter to the Editor

To the Editor:

John Hopewell notes that decades ago Spanish women were likely to avoid premarital sex because they were “terrorized by a Catholic education” (“When Hollywood Reigned in Spain,” Vlife, May 5). This is not only needless editorializing; it is offensive. Would Hopewell patronizingly call Jews who refuse to eat pork “terrorized by a Jewish education?”

Hopewell should find a more appropriate outlet to express his disagreement with Catholic teaching.
