An incident early Wednesday on the set of upcoming NBC reality skein “Dog Eat Dog” won’t affect production, the network said.
A 26-year-old contestant was hospitalized after the show staged a “hold-your-breath-underwater” contest. According to an NBC statement, the contestant ran out of breath and pulled a safety rip-cord that activated a bungee cord, which pulled him out of the water.
The contest was between two men, who were one round away from the end of the show. A final trivia portion, in which one of the two would have been awarded $25,000, did not take place. NBC did not reveal the identity of the hospitalized contestant, only to say he’s a personal trainer from Los Angeles.
Episode featuring the hospitalized contestant will not be aired. NBC said the show would continue production as planned next Monday.
“Dog Eat Dog” comes from BBC and NBC Studios. Matt Kunitz and Stuart Krasnow exec produce; Brooke Burns is host. NBC has a 13-episode commitment for the show, which is scheduled to debut this summer.
