MTV to sked sketch laffer ‘Bomb-itty’

Half-hour to bow in fall with quartet as writer-performers

MTV has ordered eight episodes of a musical sketch-comedy series from the writer-performer team of Off Broadway hit “The Bomb-itty of Errors.”

The untitled half-hour from the Bomb-itty boys — GQ, Jordan Allen-Dutton, Erik Weiner (aka Red Dragon) and J.A.Q. — is skedded to premiere this fall. That means the TV series portion of the multiplatform development deal MTV forged with the Bomb-itty boys in December, which included a feature and a telefilm, will be the first presented to auds (Daily Variety, Dec. 20).

The quartet will serve as writer-performers for the skein, each episode of which will feature an original comic musicvideo.

MTV’s music development department is producing out of Los Angeles. Michael Rotenberg and Dave Becky, both of 3 Arts (which reps the Bomb-itty boys), will be among the exec producers.

Meanwhile, MTV also has pacted with Edmonds Entertainment/E2 Filmworks VP of production and development Patrik-Ian Polk to develop the scripted, comedy-drama series “Ghetto Suite,” which could debut as early as the fall.

Single-cam series would follow the lives of four black students sharing a suite in a dorm at an East Coast university.

Polk, who served as a creative exec at MTV Films before joining Edmonds, will exec produce, write and direct the pilot for “Ghetto Suite,” for which he created the concept.
