BERLIN — German regional pubcaster Bayerischer Rundfunk has named Bettina Reitz, former topper of leading TV producer Teamworx, as new head of TV series and film production as of Jan. 1.
Reitz replaces Gabriela Sperl, who is ankling the post at the end of the year. While at Teamworx, Reitz oversaw production of projects such as the award-winning TV pic “Toter Mann” and teen drama “Julietta.”
Sperl is now producing and writing a number of projects for Teamworx and Jan Mojto’s EOS Entertainment, including their co-production “Der 20. Juli 1944 – Das Attentat,” about German military officer Claus Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg, who tried unsuccessfully to assassinate Adolf Hitler in 1944.
Sperl is also developing “Die Grosse Flucht” (working title: “The Great Escape”), a miniseries about Germans from the far eastern reaches of the German empire fleeing the invading Russian army at the end of World War II.
