CNN en Espanol shakes up programming slate

'Daniel Viotto,' 'People en Espanol' among new skeins

MIAMI — Spanish-lingo feevee CNN en Espanol, seen by more than 12 million cable and DTH households in Latin America and 2 million in the U.S., bows a revamped program slate July 15.

New shows include “Encuentro con Daniel Viotto” (Meeting With Daniel Viotto), a live current events show to air weekdays. The show will include a wrap on the U.S. markets, business updates, sports and entertainment news.

“Directo desde EEUU” (Direct From the U.S.) will air weekday evenings. Also anchored by Viotto from Atlanta, the show covers U.S. headlines, with analysis on how they affect viewers in Latin America.

Movie news is covered by “Ojo Critico” (Critical Eye), hosted by Juan Carlos Arciniegas.

The monthly high-tech industry special “Zona Digital” will launch Aug. 1, hosted by Hiram Enriquez.

CNN en Espanol also will bow a biweekly “People en Espanol” segment starting Aug 14. Anchors Ana Maria Montero and Genevieve Marlin-Fernandez will cover international entertainment and pop culture, as well as fashion, beauty tips and human-interest stories.
