CBS drools as ‘Baby’ preem wins timeslot

'Raymond' grabs adults 18 to 49

OLLYWOOD — CBS viewers like their babies, and they like ’em wacky.

The premiere of talking toddler laffer “Baby Bob” attracted 15.6 million viewers, winning the 8:30 p.m. timeslot Monday night. “Bob” was second with adults 18 to 49 (5.2 rating/12 share) behind NBC’s “Fear Factor.”

“Baby Bob” improved on its “King of Queens” lead-in (5.0/13) by 4% among adults 18 to 49. “Bob” also scored its time period’s best perf with teens since November 1998.

“Baby Bob” airs in the slot normally occupied by surprise hit “Yes, Dear,” which also made a name for itself with crazy baby antics. That show’s pilot included a sight gag involving a baby walking on water.

The Eye’s “Everybody Loves Raymond” was the night’s top program with adults 18 to 49 (7.3/17) and viewers (21.2m).

NBC also scored Monday night with another super-sized edition of “Fear Factor,” which won its 90-minute timeslot among adults 18 to 49 (7.0/18). Episode two of “The Colin Quinn Show” exhibited a slight improvement over last week’s debut (3.7/9, vs. 3.5/8), but still just held on to 53% of its lead-in.

The second episode of Fox’s “American Embassy” also held steady, posting a 3.5/8 in the adults 18-49 demo — identical to its premiere last week.

NBC won the night with adults 18-49 (5.9/15), followed by CBS (4.9/12), Fox (4.1/10), ABC (2.8/7), WB (1.6/4) and UPN (1.3/3). CBS dominated among viewers (14.9m), followed by NBC (13m), Fox (9.6m), WB (4m) and UPN (3.8m).
