TORONTO — Canadian screenwriters received kudos Monday from the Writers Guild of Canada.
Among the winners were “Cafe Ole” Emil Sher, who took the award for theatrical fiction. Frank Borg, Alan De Fiore & Chris Haddock won in the TV drama category for “DaVinci’s Inquest: Too Late for Mr. Early,” as did Ken Finkleman for “Foreign Objects: The Body.” “Lucky Girl,” story by John Frizzell and teleplay by Frizzell and Graeme Manson, took the nod for TV movie, and Ed Riche’s “Made in Canada: Creative Accounting” for TV comedy/variety. This is the sixth annual Top Ten Awards, in which the Writers Guild honors screenplays from the Great White North.
