NEW YORK — ABC Family — ever popular with the boys 6-11 demo — has unveiled a fall slate with an emphasis on action/adventure. Series “Galidor,” “Tokyo Pig” and “NASCAR Racers” will make their Saturday morning debuts Sept. 14.
Sci-fi series “Galidor,” which features a combination of live action and 3-D animation, is the story of a teenager who stumbles upon a parallel universe and must save it from an evil tyrant.
Animated “NASCAR Racers” follows rookies on the NASCAR circuit. “Tokyo Pig,” from Miramax Television, is the division’s first attempt at kidvid programming. Series, done in anime style, is a comedy about a young boy and his magical pet pig.
“Our kids action/adventure block is riding a wave of double- and triple- digit ratings increases in households and key demographics,” said Rich Ross, entertainment topper for the Disney Channel, who also oversees the block for ABC Family.
Net’s returning shows include “Beyblade,” “Medabots” and “Spider-Man.”
