Tribune Entertainment and Fireworks Entertainment have renewed their weekly action hour “Gene Roddenberry’s Andromeda” for its third and fourth seasons.
Program, starring Kevin Sorbo and distributed domestically by Tribune, has earned two-year syndication deals in 39 of the top 40 U.S. markets. Tribune Broadcasting station group, which has outlets in Gotham, Los Angeles and Chicago, remains on board for the show.
“Andromeda,” based on the late “Star Trek” creator’s archives, chronicles the adventures of Dylan Hunt (Sorbo) and his crew as they travel through space, restoring order to the former system’s Commonwealth, which suffered a civil war.
Announcement marks the second two-year commitment stations have given the show. In 1999, Tribune and Fireworks declared the show a go its first two seasons.
