‘French’ kiss for Premiere

Thesps, director wax nostalgic about high school days

HOLLYWOOD — Wednesday night’s L.A. bow of “Slap Her. . . She’s French” marked graduation of the Premiere Marketing and Distribution Group’s first premiere.

The Acad preem also gave the pic’s actors and director a chance to reminisce about their high school experiences.

“I was thought of as being on a different planet, and I was,” said star Michael McKean.

“Slap” director Melanie Mayron remembered her high school days with greater fondness. “I was the editor of my high school newspaper and I was in the marching band, so I had a ball,” she said.

Referring to pic’s story about a French foreign-exchange student, McKean recalled: “There was a foreign exchange student when I was a senior, named Gunnar. He was from Sweden and he was unbelievably good looking and cut a swath through all the girls. We hated him. But he was a nice guy.”

Among those in attendance at the Academy preem were Premiere’s Mitch Goldman, Lew O’Neil andLinda Goldenberg; Constantin Films prexy Mitch Horwits; pic’s Jane McGregor, Piper Perabo, Trent Ford, Jesse James, Nicki Lynn Aycox, Alexandra Adi, Cristen Coppen and Matt Czuchry; plus guests Ali Landry, Corbin Bernsen,Colleen Camp and Verna Harrah.
