Pilots landing more leads

Deavere Smith added to 'Presidio Med;' Wasilewski, Morris join 'Arthur'

Anna Deavere Smith (“The West Wing”) has joined CBS drama “Presidio Med,” while Paul Wasilewski and Julian Morris have landed the Lancelot and Arthur roles, respectively, in NBC’s “Young Arthur” pilot, as the networks continued casting their pilots Monday.

In other such news, Fox has given a cast-contingent pilot order to David Sacks’ comedy “The Big Fix.”

Here’s the latest:

  • Castle Rock Television’s high-concept family comedy “The Big Fix” concerns a man who led a self-centered life but is, upon his arrival in the afterlife, given the chance to go back and correct his mistakes. Sacks (“The Tick,” “3rd Rock From the Sun”) is the writer-exec producer.

  • CAA-repped Smith, who in addition to her role as National Security Adviser Nancy McNally on “The West Wing” is also known for her one-woman show “Twilight: Los Angeles,” will portray cardiologist Letty Jordan in “Presidio Med,” to which CBS has given a 13-episode order. John Wells Prods. and Warner Bros. TV are producing the project, with John Wells and Lydia Woodward exec producing. Chris Chulack is directing.

  • Deals for Wasilewski (“Wolf Lake”), who is managed by Brillstein-Grey and repped by Don Buchwald & Associates, and Brit thesp Morris mark the first major casting for NBC’s low-budget take on the King Arthur tale. Majority of the casting for the project, being shot in Prague and produced by NBC Studios, is taking place in London. Pilot is being shot in Prague as well. Remi Aubuchon is exec producing and writing, while Graham Yost is supervising producer and Mikael Salomon is directing.

  • Danny Nucci (“Snoops”) has landed the role of Matt, or Father Lefty, in CBS drama pilot “Lefty,” from Brad Grey Television and Big Ticket Television. Sylvester Stallone and Brad Grey are exec producing the project about a nonconformist big-city priest; Cynthia Cidre is penning the script.

  • Three major roles have been locked up for the ABC medical drama tentatively titled “The Oath.” Project, produced by Touchstone Television, concerns two doctors fighting the system at an HMO hospital. Robert Joy and Jacqueline McKenzie will portray hospital administrators; Jane Lynch will play Nurse “Doctor” Pool. The two main doctor characters are in the process of being cast. Gary Tieche is writing and exec producing, while Marc Platt is exec producing.

  • James Bulliard (Showtime’s “Leap Years”) has nabbed the lead role in ABC dramedy pilot “That Was Then,” which Touchstone Television is producing. Bulliard will play a 30-year-old who gets a chance to relive a week of his life in high school with unexpected results. Joining him are Tyler Labine (“Dead Last”), who will play his best friend; Tricia O’Kelley (“Emeril”) as one of his teachers; and Kiele Sanchez as the woman who got away.

  • Rebecca Gayheart will join Fox’s “Firefly,” the 20th Century Fox Television-produced sci-fi saga from scribe Joss Whedon. She plays Inara, one of the people on the “Firefly” ship.

  • Andrea Roth, who most recently starred in CBS drama “The Agency,” has joined the cast of Fox’s new take on “The Time Tunnel” from scribe Rand Ravich and helmer Todd Holland. Max Baker (“The Secret Diary of Desmond Pfeiffer”) also is signed on.

  • Crystal Grant (“All About Us”) is now part of the ensemble cast of Fox’s small-screen version of “Save the Last Dance,” produced by Par.
