Women in Film has tapped Rosie O’Donnell, “Judging Amy” thesps Amy Brenneman and Tyne Daly and ABC Cable Networks Group/Disney Channel Worldwide prexy Anne Sweeney as this year’s Lucy Award recipients.
They will be feted Sept. 20 at the Century Plaza Hotel.
“Women in Film is proud to honor these women, who have made such an impact on a global level with their thought-provoking and emotionally satisfying work in television, both in front of and behind the cameras,” WIF prexy Hollace Davids said Tuesday.
As previously announced, WIF this year will merge its two annual kudofests — the Lucys and the Crystal Awards (Daily Variety, June 25). Event will mark the 26th year for the Crystals, which honor women in filmmaking, and the eighth for the Lucys.
Named for Lucille Ball, the Lucys were founded in 1994 by Joanna Kerns and are presented in association with the Lucille Ball estate. Nods are given to recognize women and men who whose excellence and innovation have enhanced the perception of women through the medium of TV.
