Vet helmer Pollack is back at CAA

Director currently developing 'Kavalier and Klay'

What line in the sand?

Now that AMG is no more, helmer Sydney Pollack has returned to Creative Artists Agency.

The Oscar-winning helmer and producer had elected to part company with CAA back in July 1999, six months after the tenpercentery said it would not share clients with Ovitz’s new management venture (Daily Variety, 1/26/99).

Pollack had signed with United Talent Agency in September 2001, where he was repped until UTA agent John Lesher moved to become a partner at Endeavor. Things get murky from there: Some say that Lesher continued to rep him at Endeavor, but others say he never signed with Endeavor.

But now, regardless of who his reps were, the helmer of such pics as “Out of Africa” and “The Firm” will be repped solely by CAA in all areas.

He is currently developing the Pulitzer Prize winning novel “The Adventures of Kavalier and Klay” for Par-based producer Scott Rudin, with an eye toward helming it.

Pollack’s shift comes on the heels of thesp Natalie Portman signing with CAA shortly after AMG dissolution earlier this month.
